In math we learned how to figure out long division and remainders.

In writing after a successful sharing of the fractured fairy tales, we started to learn about the oral tradition of Indigenous People through the medium of story telling.

In social studies, the students were busy creating timelines of diverse Afro-American people by highlighting their significant contribution to the Canadian society.

Through art, the students expressed their thoughts and ideas about bullying prevention and ways to deal with this type of behavior.

In math we were busy learning about division and how it can be used in the daily life. The students approached the division process by making connections with the concepts learned in the previous units such as multiplication, skip counting and subtraction.

The focus of the social studies was on Black History, in particular significant events in the black communities across Canada.

In writing, the students typed their fractured fairy tales, inserted illustrations and began to share their work with their peers.

In physical education, we started a new unit: soccer. We learned how to pass the ball and to work effectively in a team.

Next week, on Wednesday, February 22, 2021, we will celebrate Pink Shirt Day. The students are encouraged to wear a pink clothing item.

In math we were busy solving multiplication word problems making connections with the other operations such as addition and division.

The students worked diligently to write fractured fairy tales incorporating descriptive words such as five sense, actions words and show and not tell the characters emotions.

In social studies the students explored the factors that led Alberta to join the Canadian Confederation.

Using paint and creativity, the students created amazing landscape in the style of Indigenous artist, Jason Carter.

The report cards are accessible starting with today by using your MyCBE account. I am very prod of the hard work showed consistently by the students.

No school next week on Thursday and Friday due to Teachers' Convention.

Due to Covid, we are not accepting Valentines Day Cards in the classroom this year. However, we are suggesting a few things your child/ren can do instead, and of course both of these are optional.

1) Make a "Virtual" Card for the class on their Google Classroom. That can be shared.

2) Make a card for the whole class, take a picture, and email it to the teacher to present to the class.

Have a relaxing weekend!
