 During the math we continued to learn how to solve problems involving addition.

In science we have started to research the ways in which the city of Calgary deals with waste, recyclable materials and compost in order to create a proper livable habitat for humans.

In social studies we investigated the contribution made by women during the fur trading.

The students have worked diligently to finish their music research about Canadian musicians and organized the information in Powerpoint presentations.

By using West Coast Art elements, the students created appealing pieces of art involving animals that were found traditionally on the west coast of Canada.

 In math we were busy solving problems involving addition by using different strategies.

In writing we made connections between the story One and Only Ivan and our lives.

During science we continue to learn about biodegradable materials, decomposers and their role in nature, the pluses and minuses of  packaging in relations to function, aesthetics and waste.

In social studies we learned about the major companies involved in fur trading and their relationship with the Indigenous People.

In physical education, we practice playing basketball by learning how to work in a team, pass and dribble the ball.

 We have learned about landfill: their structure, hazards (methane, leachate) and challenges to keep animals away.

We studied some of the animals hunted by the Indigenous People of Canada and settlers such as whales, seals, beavers and salmon.

We deepen our understanding about soft drinks by making sense of their impact on our health.

In literacy we started the novel One and only Ivan by Katherine Applegate.
